Annual Sports Meet 2023-24

Annual sports meet teaches discipline, respect, friendship, leadership, resilience, teamwork and overcoming adversity. It is a part of a student’s growth and development. A good school aims to improve a student’s physical abilities and helps them learn a sense of good sportsmanship.

Our ‘Mahatma International School [C.B.S.E.]’ have also organized Annual Sports on 4th January, 2024 for Primary section (Class I to Class V).

The day started with the school prayer followed by National Anthem of choir group. Our teacher Mrs. Neeta Lele ma’am took a lead to start the program with a welcome speech and a list of events of the day. Simultaneously we had arrival of our principal sir Mr. Jomon Mathew as a guest of honor, this was followed by the Inter-House March Past. Our honorable guest lit up the fire lamp, and conducted Oath-taking ceremony. Students of Grades III And IV performed YOGA Asanas, with cheer-up song.

The students were participated in different types of sporting events. Students as well as teachers enjoy the day and look forward to. It helps students to showcase their athletic abilities within them.

At the end, the winners were awarded medals and certificates. The principal of this institution, Mr.Jomon Mathew , address to the students laid emphasis on the need to participate, he also said that it is not important to win, it is a participation that makes all the difference. He congratulates his team of teachers and admin staff for their cooperation and support to keep up their sportsman spirit and a successful day.

At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

Annual Sports Day 2023-24

Date: 3rd January, 2024

Sports teach children skills like leadership, patience, team spirit and other social skills. To encourage, enhance, exhibit and celebrate these skills of students, the Annual Sports Day was conducted on 3rd January, 2024. Children participated in different track and field events in different age groups. The four houses Red, Blue, Green and Yellow competed for points to lead.

According to the final results the Green house bagged the championship followed by Blue house in the second place. The Yellow house followed in the 3rd place.

Annual Sports Day 2022-23

“Life is incomplete without sports, its the time to refresh our time, so play as you can” says the famous quote.

Sports day of MIS was celebrated on the 13th January, 2023. There was a march past by the participants, followed by Lightening of torch. Principal Jomon Mathew Sir gave a short speech to encourage the students.

There were many events, 100 meter race, Hurdle race, Medicine ball throw, Shuttle race, Potato race, tug of war etc.

The teachers were judges of all the events. Many students won the medals. All the children took part in all the events with enthusiasm. Those who won in 2/3 events were given various Trophies in addition to the medals. The day ended with speech by Principal Sir congratulating and motivating children.

Annual Sports Day Celebration 2023

On 12th January, 2023, Mahatma International School (CBSE), Panvel, organized its Annual Sports Day. The day was filled with a lot of fun and frolic, excitement, high spirits, enthusiasm, competition, and cheers. All the students were very excited about the day, and the activities that were going to be carried out throughout the day. The chief guest for the day was Principal, Mr. Jomon Mathew Sir. The Ground area of the school translated festivity with decorations, ground markings and excitement.

The day started off with the flame lighting ceremony, followed by the march past by all four houses (Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow house). The music club of the school performed, levelling up the energy in all the participating students.

There were many sports events that were carried out parallelly, which included Short put, Relay, Long Jump, 100m Race, 200m Race, and others.

All the houses were awarded points on the basis of their performance and achievements. The Blue house stood tall as an overall winner, followed by the Red house, which almost rivalled the champion. All were happy at the end of the event, and all the efforts of the students paid off. All the winning students and teams were awarded with medals and certificates during the prize distribution ceremony, and the winning house walked away with the Trophy. In his closing address, the Principal of the school addressed all the students and the teachers, congratulating all the winning students, and appreciating the efforts taken by all for the success of the day.

Annual Sports Day 2017-18

“That is one thing you learn in sports. You don’t give up; you fight to the finish.”

To inculcate among Mahatmaites the quality of seeking, striving, achieving and if not achieved, accepting failure boldly and working to improve, our school conducted Anuual Sports Meet on 12th January, 2018. Students of Primary and Secondary participated with great vigor. Students and teachers could be seen energetic and active. Events like 100mts heat, 400 ms heats, Relay Race, Shot Put, Broad Jump etc. were conducted. House members and House-In-charge teachers could be seen cheering their team members.

Sports Day 2016-17 – Secondary

Gold medals aren’t really made of gold. They are made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.

On the 12th January 2017, Mahatma International School hosted its IX Annual Sports Meet, a day filled with fervor and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers. The chief guest for the day was the CEO of the school Shri. A. L. Tripathi sir. The day started off with the lovely rendition by the choir to pay salutations to the Lord almighty.

Another highlight of the day was the lighting of the torch. The torch bearer of the event was Mst Sanatan Kumar, who won the 200 metres DSO and was selected for the Mumbai division. He was the gold medalist in Athletics Interschool competition. This was followed by the Inter-house March Past, a highly competitive event where the four houses eyed for the first place.

This was followed by the track events including 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres races by the students. 4×100 metre relay race for both boys and girls house wise, long jump, short put, medicine ball throw, tug of war house wise added to the enjoyment. Prize distribution was done by the chief guest and our principal Mr Jomon Matrhew sir. At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces as the yellow house emerged as House Champions. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The principal of this esteemed institution, Mr. Jomon Mathews thanked all the teachers for their co-operation and support and advised the children to keep up their sportsman spirit.

8th Annual Sports Day Meet

Sports have its own significance for success in every walks of our life. ‘Sound mind dwells in sound body’. Keeping this line in tradition Mahatma International School observed its 8th Annual Sports Meet for the academic year 2016-17 on 11th January, 2017.

The Annual Sports Meet followed in a sequence with prayer, flag hosting and March past, Principal Ms. Beena K. Thambi addressed the students and boosted their morale. Our honorable chief guest Dy. CEO Mr. A. L. Tripathi declared the sports meet open.

Different events such as Running Race (50 mtrs), Hurdles Race (50 mtrs), Potato Race (20 mtrs), Shuttle Race (06 mtrs) and Medicine Ball Throw were held for primary section. Events such as Running Race (100 mtrs, 200 mtrs, 400 mtrs), Long Jump, Shot-put Throw, Relay Race, Tug of War were held for secondary section.

Students of CBSE section exhibited great sportsman spirit with over whelming participation. They were awarded with certificates and medals (Gold, Silver, Bronze) as a token of appreciation. Principal Ms. Beena K. Thambi and Dy. CEO Mr. A. L. Tripathi were invited to do the honors. Best athletes were awarded with trophies. Houses – Red, Blue, Green and Yellow were ranked as per their performances.

Indeed, this 8th Annual Sports Meet played a significant role in raising schools sporting profile. It fostered competitive spirit, sportsmanship, sense of co-operation and team-spirit.

Sports Day 2015-16 Pre-Primary Section

  • The pre-primary section had their Annual Sports Meet on 20th January 2016.
  • Running race, Frog jump and Book balancing were the events of that day.
  • The tiny tots participated in all the events with great enthusiasm.
  • The children who excelled were awarded with medals and certificates.
  • The meet was attended by Dy CEO A. L. Tripathy and Principal Mrs. Beena Thambi.
  • They appreciated all the children for their participation.

7th Annual Sports Meet Primary and Secondary 2015-16
