National Mathematics Day celebrated on 9th December, 2019.

The Indian government declared 22nd December, 2019 to be National Mathematics Day. This was announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 26th February, 2012 at Madras University, during the inaugural ceremony of the celebrations to mark the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan (22nd December, 1887 – 26th April, 1920). On this occasion, he also announced that 2012 would be celebrated as the National Mathematics Year.

Since then, National Mathematics Day is celebrated in India every 22nd December, 2019 with numerous educational events held at schools and universities throughout the country. In 2017, the day’s significance was enhanced by the opening of the Ramanujan Math Park in Kuppam, in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.

We celebrated mathematics day in our school with activities like speech and mathematics doodles in primary section. Mathematics doodles help studentsin knowing about various signs. Speeches help them to know more about our great mathematicians.
